GPS & Location Validation

Built-in geolocation ensures accountability by verifying where and when attendance records are being captured.

Accurate attendance is not just about marking presence — it's about ensuring where and how that attendance is recorded. Street2School Guardian includes built-in GPS and location validation to improve accountability and trust in attendance data.

Why Location Validation Matters

In many environments:

  • Attendance may be recorded outside the school
  • Data may be entered later or in bulk
  • Verification can be difficult without physical oversight

This can lead to:

  • Inaccurate reporting
  • Misrepresentation of attendance
  • Reduced trust in the data

How It Works

1. School Location Setup

Each school is registered with GPS coordinates and a defined location radius, establishing the expected attendance zone.

2. Capture Location During Attendance

When attendance is recorded, the system automatically captures GPS coordinates, timestamp, and device information.

3. Real-Time Location Check

The system compares the recorded location against the school's registered coordinates in real time.

4. Automatic Flagging

If attendance is recorded outside the defined school radius, the system:

  • Flags the record as "Outside Location"
  • Highlights it in dashboards and reports
  • Makes it visible for review by organisation admins

Benefits

For Organisations

  • Greater confidence in attendance data
  • Easier identification of anomalies
  • Stronger reporting and accountability

For Schools

  • Clear expectations for attendance recording
  • Reduced disputes over data accuracy

For Programmes & Governments

  • Reliable data for planning and decision-making
  • Improved monitoring across multiple locations

Important Note

Location data is captured only for attendance validation purposes and handled in accordance with strict privacy and security standards.
